The Sport Alenquer and Benfica is the subsidiary n º17 of Sport Lisboa and Benfica. It is a non-profit organization, placed in Alenquer, Lisboa, Portugal. It was founded in April 1 st , 1949, and in the beginning the activities were Theather, Ping-pong and Soccer.

 

The Roller Hockey was introduced in 1972, and the team started to participate in many finals: 1978/1979, 1982/1983 e 2006/2007. It was also in the final of Taça de Portugal, in 2003/2004, and in 2013/2014 was among the best four. Also, played the final game in the Trophy CERS (Confederatión Européenne de Roller Skating).

 

The club was always delivering “formação desportiva e cívica” and, because of this, many players were selected for the National Teams.

 

Nowadays, the Sport Alenquer and Benfica is participating in three activities: Roller Hockey, with 94 players and 9 managers, Soccer, with 126 players, and Speed Roller, with 31 athletes.

In total, there are 251 athletes, and just 9 of them are seniors. This characteristic shows the importance of the education for the club.

As a “Public Utility” entity it is, and it always was, very important the active participation of all players, directors, managers, parents and the rest of the members in club’s life.
