Circolo Pattinatori Grosseto 1951

Project leader

Since its foundation the club has been participating to the official Italian championship of skating race and hockey. In the past years, the club ranked first in many Italian championships, particularly in the youth categories, nowadays in the club it is about seventy people aged between four and fifteen playing hockey. There is also a main senior team playing in the Italian 3th division.

Many of that young athletes that won Italian championships playing in the team was then selected for the junior and senior Italian national teams, three of them earned  the gold medal in the world championships. Nowadays one of those champions “Massimo Mariotti” is the coach of the Italian national team and he is also the trainer of the CP Grosseto senior team playing in the 3th division.

Every year it start a new class for children aged between four and eight, the course lasts about nine months from October to June. All the trainers involved in the class and hockey training own a CONI license to teach skating.

The council of CP Grosseto 1951 strongly believe in the social inclusion since the very beginning, so the basic skating courses are free of charge for everybody and the children involved receive the skates as well; such free courses last for the first two years. To achieve that level of inclusion it was and it is of great importance to use volunteers to  limit the cost, so many teachers and participants work for free. Implementing that policy there are about seventy children aged between 4 to 15 playing hockey in the team.
